Music charts: Carrie, Brad on the rise again

Carrie Underwood arrives for the American Idol finale. (AP Photo)The best American Idol news on the music charts this week comes from the show’s twangy side.

The “Remind Me” duet from Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood is now number four on the country singles chart, up from number five a week ago. It’s also number 17 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Among country songs, only “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry is doing better (number 15).

But season four Idol winner Carrie isn’t the lone bright spot.

Scotty McCreery’s debut single, “Love You This Big,” just reached a new peak of 15 on the country singles chart, up four spots from lat week. It also advanced 10 spots, from 69 to 59, on the Hot 100.

And it took 11 weeks for it to happen, but Kellie Pickler’s new single, “Tough,” just cracked the top 10 on the country singles chart. It is number 30, up five spots from a week ago.

I’ll provide a full rundown of Idols on the music charts soon. In the meantime, enjoy the video of “Remind Me.”
