Well, Carrie Underwood’s reign at the top of the Billboard album chart lasted exactly one week.
This week, she’s bumped to number three by Bon Jovi’s “The Circle” and Andrea Bocelli’s “My Christmas.”
But “Play On,” Carrie’s latest, is still number one on the country album chart, just ahead of Taylor Swift’s “Fearless,” which is benefitting from the release of a deluxe version of that hit album.
Meanwhile, won’t this be interesting?
In a couple of week, Kris Allen, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta will all have post-Idol debut albums battling it out on the album chart at the same time.
Right now, Kris and Adam have singles on the Hot 100 … and Kris is in the lead.
Here’s how the rest of the Idol’s fared on the music charts this week.
Kris Allen: “Live Like We’re Dying,” lead single from that debut album, makes a big jump this week, from 92 to 70 on the Hot 100. Next week, his album debuts on the charts.
David Archuleta: “Christmas From the Heart” advances one spot on the Billboard 200, from 76 to 75. It slides three spots on the holiday album chart, from nine to 12.
Kelly Clarkson: “Already Gone” slips a bit on the charts, dropping from 18 to 20 on the Hot 100 and from seven to eight among pop songs. Kelly’s fourth album, “All I Ever Wanted” also slips a bit, from 113 to 123 on the Billboard 200.
Daughtry: Big jump this week for Chris and the guys, as “Leave This Town” jumps from 73 to 45 on the Billboard 200. Pretty impressive, considering all the new CDs hitting store shelves this time of year. “No Surprise,” lead single off the album, holds steady at number nine on the adult contemporary chart.
Adam Lambert: “For Your Entertainment,” title track for the album by the same name, debuts at number 84 on the Hot 100. Adam will be performing the song at the AMAs Sunday night (8 p.m., ABC). Check back them for a live blog filled with pics from the show.
Blake Lewis: His first single off his second album got as high as number 11 on the dance/club play charts. This week, “Sad Song” drops from 18 to 21.
Mandisa: “He Is With You,” second single off Mandisa’s latest album, climbs one spot, from 23 to 22 on the Christian singles chart.
Kellie Pickler: Ms. Pickler’s new song, “Don’t Know
How Much I Loved You,” is one of the big gainers on the country singles chart, moving from 30 to 28. Kellie’s album holds steady at 33 on the country chart and moves up a spot, from 169 to 168 among the Billboard 200.
Jordin Sparks: The season six champ is just a spot away from having a number one dance/club play hit. “S.O.S. (Let the Music Play)” advances from three to number two on that chart this week.
Phil Stacey: For the first time in more than three months, Phil’s single “You’re Not Shaken,” has dropped out of the top 25 on the Christian singles chart.
Carrie Underwood: “Cowboy Casanova” hit number one on the country singles chart last week. This week, it slips to number two. Carrie’s first single from “Play On” holds steady at number 21 on the Hot 100.
