Music charts: Good start of Scotty, Lauren Alaina

0

Scotty McCreery's single, "Love You This Big"It’s not the Billboard charts, but Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are off to a good start on the music charts — the iTunes charts, this is.

Scotty’s “Love You This Big” debuted at number one on the iTunes singles chart Thursday and is still there this morning.

A compilation album of his Idol performances checked in at number two on the charts Thursday and Friday, behind only Lady Gaga’s new CD. Today, it slips to number three behind Gaga and Adele. Pretty good company.

As for Lauren Alaina?

Lauren Alaina's single, "Like My Mother Does"Her “Like My Mother Does” single is number five on the iTunes singles chart Saturday, down a spot from Friday. Her compilation album is number seven, again down one spot from yesterday.

Elsewhere on the music charts:

* Daughtry’s “September” has simply become a fixture on Billboard’s adult contemporary singles chart. It’s still number three after 40 weeks on that chart. It peaked at number two, never quite able to dislodge Bruno Mars “Just the Way You Are.”

* Mandisa’s beginning to understand what that feels like. For the fourth straight week, her single “Stronger” is number two on the hot Christian singles chart. Holding the number one spot all that time: “Glorious Day” by Casting Crowns.

This week’s rundown …

Billboard Music Chart 5-26-11

And last week’s (sorry ’bout that, got wrapped up in the lead-up to the Idol finale.
