Idols on the Music Chart

Music charts: The big mover — a Daughtry single

And the big mover among Idol music release on the Billboard charts is … drum roll, please.

“September,” the third single of Daughtry’s second album.

Released six weeks ago, the song has climbed all the way to number four on Billboard’s adult pop songs chart.

And it’s number 57 on the Hot 100, a jump of nine spots from a week ago.

I doubt the single is going to threaten Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” or anything released by Ke$ha at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 anytime soon.

But it’s a pretty impressive climb for a single that entered the charts at number 94.

Elsewhere on the Billboard charts this week:

Kris Allen: His debut single “Live Like We’re Dying” finally dropped out of the top 15 on the adult contemporary chart. His second single, “The Truth,” has yet to crack the Hot 100.

Kelly Clarkson: The original Idol might hang around on the adult contemporary singles chart forever. “Already Gone” is number seven and has hovered between six and eight for the last six weeks.

Daughtry: In addition to “September,” Chris and the guys have a second song on the Billboard charts — “Life After You,” which is number six on the adult contemporary chart for the third straight week. “Leave This Town” is 90 on the Billboard 200, up from 96.

Fantasia: Her album takes an expected tumble in week three, but only to number 11, from five. “Back to Me” is still number two on the hip-hop/R&B album chart, where it debuted at number one three weeks ago. The first single from the album, “Bittersweet,” is number 85 on the Hot 100, down from 81, and number nine on the hip-hop/R&B singles chart, down from seven.

Adam Lambert: “If I Had You” is number 31 on the Hot 100, down from 35, and number 19 on the adult pop songs chart, down from 20. Adam’s previous single, “Whataya Want From Me,” moves from number nine to number eight on the adult contemporary chart. And Adam’s album, released in December, is still 105 on the Billboard 200, up three spots from a week ago.

Carrie Underwood: “Play On” is number six on the country albums chart, a one-spot advance. It’s number 47 on the Billboard 200, a five-spot retreat. “Undo It” is number 67 on the Hot 100, down from 59 a week ago.
