Good news is pretty sparce for Idols on the Billboard charts this week.
Oh, three singles reached new peaks, but each only advanced by one spot.
Those would include Carrie Underwood’s “Mama’s Song” at number seven on the county charts, Fantasia’s “I’m Doin’ Me” at number 13 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and Jason Castro’s “You Are” on the Christian chart.
Nearly as many Idol singles — Chris Slight’s “Only You Can Save” and Daughtry’s “September” — fall from my charts, dropping from the top 25 and 15, respectively, among Christian singles and the adult contemporary charts.
But if you’re looking for new music to solve you Idol holiday blues, some has arrived and some is on the way.
Check out Kimberly Caldwell’s new single “Desperate Girls and Stupid Boys.” Check out Adam Lambert’s five-track acoustic CD, which will make you wonder all over again how in the world he failed to win Idol season eight.
And, by all means, head over to AOL.com, which is offering a free listen of Crystal Bowersox’s “Farmer’s Daughter” CD, which comes out Tuesday. The title track and “Speak Now” — no, it’s not a Taylor Swift cover — are among the best Idol songs released this year.
Now, for the complete rundown of Idols on the music charts.
