Nakia from The Voice Season 1 just released a live EP with The Blues Grifters.

Season 1 Voice standout Nakia waited seven years after the show to release the Blues Grifters album he’d started working on before auditioning.

That full-length album, featuring covers by blues greats, landed last summer.

Now Nakia and The Blue Grifters are back just a year later with a six-song live album called “Real. Live. Blues.”

Those also happen to be the first words in the description of Nakia and The Blues Grifters on the band’s website.

Oh and about that photo at right. Whataburgers is not one of the songs on the album. But Whataburgers do play a key role in Nakia’s fun version of “300 Pounds of Joy.”

Nakia and his band celebrated with an album release show in Austin, Texas, Saturday night.

The band has a busy summer of show dates around Texas, plus four shows in Spain. For a complete list of those dates, visit the band’s website.

Here’s Nakia doing an extending live version of “300 Pounds of Joy.”
