It’s his third single from “For Your Entertainment” and the followup to “Whataya Want from Me,” Adam’s most successful single so far.

That song is number 47 on the Hot 100 (down from 41 last week); it peeked at number 10. It’s still number three on the adult pop song chart, where it climbed as high as number two.

Can “If I Had You” do as well?

Time will tell.

But the opening to the song is so Adam. “So I got my boots on / Got the right ‘mount of leather / And I’m doing me up / with a black color liner …”

The video is fun too. In case you haven’t seen it, I’ve posted it below.

Keep watching, and you’ll catch a glimpse of Adam’s tour buddy and fellow Idol contestant, Allison Iraheta.

And here’s an interesting tidbit for Adam fans. He recently told WKCI radio in Connecticut that he plans to release album number two next year. Work on the new album will begin in the fall. You can hear the interview here.

Meanwhile, the Glam Nation tour marches on. Here’s a not-entirely-glowing review from the Monday night show at the 9:30 Club in D.C. The Washington Post also posted photos from the show.

The Glam Nation tour returns to Pennsylvania in August with shows in Erie (Aug. 10), the Philly area (Aug. 12) and Bethlehem (Aug. 13).

Meanwhile, here’s how the other Idols are doing on the Billboard charts this week.

Clay Aiken: Talk about a tumble. In week number four on the charts, Clay’s new album “Tried and True” drops from 77 to 167 on the Billboard 200. Clay and former Idol champ Ruben Studdard will perform at the American Music Theatre on Aug. 8.

Bucky Covington: After moving up the country singles chart three straight weeks, “A Father’s Love” took a dip this week, falling from 23 to 25.

Daughtry: The band’s second album, “Leave This Town,” plummets from 75 to 111 on the Billboard 200. But the band’s first album is at 166 on the same chart, not bad considering only four other Idol-related albums are on that chart.

Fantasia: The season three winner just turned 26, and she can celebrate with a bonifide hit. “Bittersweet” continues its assault on the R&B/Soul singles chart this week, advancing from number 16 to number 13.

Danny Gokey: “My Best Days” continues to cling to a top 40 spot on the country album chart, 17 weeks after its release. It’s number 39 this week, for the second straight week.

Adam Lambert: In addition to the aforementioned singles, Adam’s album is number 109 on the Billboard 200, up one spot from a week ago.

Kimberley Locke: “Strobelight,” Kimberley’s latest single, is doing well on the dance/club play chart, moving up five spots from 25 to 20 this week.

Carrie Underwood: “Undo It,” Carrie’s new single, stays at number six on the country singles chart for the third straight week. It’s number 30 on the Hot 100, down from 25. Her album is number five on the country album chart; number 27 (down from 23) on the Billboard 200.
