Bo Bice in the studio with Brothers of the Southland

Time for a Bo Bice update.

The question: Where to start?

Well, how about with the music?

Bo fans will want to check out a new CD, Brothers of the Southland, a tribute to Southern rock.

Bo’s not a member of the band, but he sings on the album. You can check out his 7-minute, 30-second version of the Marshall Tucker Band classic, “Can’t You See,” here.

Bo will be in the area Tuesday, July 28, playing a show at Ram’s Head on Stage in Annapolis, Md. Tickets are $35.

And later this summer, Bo and Lynyrd Skynyrd will play a double bill at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, and fans can expect “more dates from the pair later this summer,” according to Bo’s Web site.

Must be a dream gig come true for Bo. I still chuckle every time I think about the night he sang “Freebird” on his way to a second-place finish on Idol season four. Not about his performance, but about how Simon suggested he’d be better off singing something “well known.”

Finally, on a more personal note, Bo announced last Friday that he and his wife, Caroline, are expecting their third child in January. They have two sons.
