New post-Voice music includes an EP from Jonathan Mouton and singles from Rayshun LaMarr and Jon Mero.
Here’s a bit more about each of those releases. The links take you to the music on Apple Music.
* Jonathan Mouton From Season 21 recently released a five-track EP called “’91.” Jonathan was 30 when he auditioned for the show; 1991 was the year of his birth. And the highly-personal EP looks back at his upbringing. The roots of the led track, “Pray for Kings,” lie in a baby book his parents started for him even before he was conceived. Another song, “The Good in What’s Broken,” relates to feelings he had as a child when he wanted to focus on creative endeavors while his siblings thrived at sports. Jonathan talks extensively about the project in this interview.
* Rayshun LaMarr from Season 14 has a new single out called “Tryin.” It appears to be his first release since appearing on the show in the spring of 2018. You might remember Rayshun as the singer who earned two straight instant saves in the voting rounds to advance all the way to the semifinals before being eliminated.
* Jon Mero from Season 14 released a song called “We’re Gettin’ Back” last month. And it’s been featured in an IGH Hotels ad campaign. And now Jon is preparing to drop an album called “Keep It Real” on July 8. Writes Jon: “I prayed for sooooo many years that I would be able to use my voice to support myself and there were eras where I thought I’d lose out on life chasing this…but God knows what He’s doing and brought amazing people into my life at so many crucial points and I honestly feel like I can’t take much credit for these blessings.”
