New post-Voice music out this week includes singles from Todd Kessler, Chris Crump and Colton Smith and an impassioned cover from E.G. Daily.

Here’s a look at each of those releases.

The links take you to the songs on Apple Music. Or you can check out Spotify snippets below.

* Todd Kessler of The Voice Season 3 released “Holding On” last week. And while he and Kevin Prchal originally wrote the song a year and a half ago, they decided the theme fit the pandemic perfectly and decided to release it now. “This idea was basically ‘in the tough times, we’ve got to stick together,’” he told Chicago Soundcheck. “But then when we revisited it, while we couldn’t be together physically, it just kind of became, ‘Wow, this is so of this moment,’ which was also part of the reason why we felt such a fire to really finish it in this moment. It just felt so apropos to what we’re all dealing with.” There’s also a music video, filmed entirely with Zoom.

* Chris Crump from Season 5 released a song called “Hold On.” He calls it a reminder that “sometimes we gotta hold on to each other till the hard times pass.” He calls it special because it’s the first song he ever recorded with wife April Crump. In fact, they also wrote the song along with Caleb Cameron.

* Colton Smith from Season 15 has released “The Day the World Split in Two,” his second single in as many months. This one was co-written and produced by Ryan Hoffman. “Really proud of this one,” Colton writes on Instagram.

* E.G. Daily from Season 5 released a cover of Billie Eilish’s “when the party’s over.” E.G. writes on Instagram that she’s always been a big fan of the song and of Lewis Capaldi’s voice. So when she saw the Lewis covered the song … well, she just had to give it a go too. She’s released a music video version as well.
