Former American Idol Matt Rogers has a new TV gig, as host of a show that debuts tonight on Lifetime.

The show is called “Coming Home,” and it’s about reuniting members of the U.S. armed forces who have been serving overseas with their families.

The first episode airs Sunday at 10 p.m. EST on Lifetime, immediately after the fifth-season premiere of “Army Wives,” which airs at 9 p.m.

On “Coming Home,” Matt will play host, a role he’s become accustomed to since finishing 11th on season three of American Idol.

He was also host of The Discovery Channel’s “Really Big Things” and CBS’s 2009 reality show “There Goes the Neighborhood.”

In one of “Coming Homes'” first segments, Matt meets a young boy who misses playing swords with his dad, who has been training troops in Iraq.

“He misses my swordsmanship,” his smiling dad says via Skype. “That’s because he always wins.”

With the help of Medieval Times, Matt helps arrange a unique surprise reunion for that dad and his son.

“Coming Home” will have an initial 13-show run, with each show featuring five reunions.
