Well, Voice fans, you might want to enjoy Season 17.

Because there are ominous signs on the spring 2020 schedule NBC unveiled earlier this month.

The Voice Season 18 will begin Monday, Feb. 24, with Nick Jonas in the coach’s chair currently occupied by Gwen Stefani.

That’s not the ominous news, unless you’re a big fan of watching Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani interact as Voice coaches.

The ominous news is the The Voice will air Mondays only for several weeks, a la Season 16.

And fans would probably rather forget Season 16. I know I would.

Singers disappeared for weeks at a time.

The finals lasted just three weeks.

It all felt like The Voice lite.

And Season 16 champ Maelyn Jarmon had to sing just seven times to make the finals.

The most ominous news of all. The NBC schedule announcement includes this line:

“The Voice moves back to twice weekly for the always-anticipated live shows over the cycle’s final three weeks in May.”

If The Voice is planning another three-week finals, my advice to fans is simple: Don’t bother.

Besides, American Idol will be airing around the same time.

And American Idol Season 17 — with the show’s top performer singing week after week once the auditions ended — was vastly superior to The Voice Season 16.
