In a rather dramatic format switch, American Idol introduced its Top 10 one by one Thursday night.

And when the applause died away, each of the top 10 sang a victory song.

Welcomed to the American Idol finals were Paul Jolley, Lazaro Arbos, Curtis Finch, Devin Velez and Burnell Taylor among the guys.

Representing the girls: Janelle Arthur, Kree Harrison, Candice Glover, Amber Holcomb and Angie Miller.
