The Top 12 on The Voice take the stage Monday night with hopes of earning a spot in the Season 25 semifinals.
Eight artists will advance to those semifinals; four will head home this week.
Voice fans will vote for the first time after Monday’s show, with the Top 7 finishers automatically advancing to next week’s show.
During Tuesday’s results show, the bottom five will perform for an instant save and the final spot in the semifinals.
Here’s how Voice Views is ranking the Top 12 heading into that show.
1. Asher HaVon (Team Reba), 31, Selma, Ala.: The show is called The Voice and that’s why Asher lands here. He has a flair for the drama in costume and on stage, but it’s his range, unique tone and vocal acrobatics that should earn him a spot in the May 19 finale. His cover of “Titanium” might have been the best playoff performance.
2. Bryan Olesen (Team Legend), 49, Lincoln, Neb.: He’s a vocally skilled pro who’s been impressive every time he’s taken The Voice stage. His rock vibes will appeal to Voice voters who awarded the Season 24 title to Huntley, another rocker. Bottom line: Right now, he’s the guy I expect to win Season 25.
3. Karen Waldrup (Team Dan + Shay), 36, of Mandeville, La.: She’s a 12-year veterans of Nashville who’s performed hundreds of shows, won’t be intimated by The Voice stage and can be counted on for a top-notch performance and vocal every time out. She should be a strong contender for a spot in the finale and possibly the first female country champ since Season 15 (Chevel Shepherd).
4. L. Rodgers (Team Reba), 34, Baltimore, Md.: She has more than 290,000 followers on TikTok, where her handle is Reality Show Reject. “I might have to change my name …” she quips there. She might. She not only made the live shows, her playoff performance indicates she’s a serious contender for a spot in the finale.
5. Maddi Jane (Team Chance), 25, Chicago, Ill.: I’m going to be interested in Maddi Jane’s approach to the lives. Her playoff song choice (Rihanna’s “Stay”) would be a hit with fans. Some of her earlier song choices on the show would not. She’ll perform well. It’s just a case of whether those performances register with viewers.
6. Madison Curbelo (Team Dan + Shay), 21, Westfield, Mass.: On a cast this seasoned, filled with professional musicians, I can see Madison and her radiant on-stage presence gaining an underdog appeal with voters. One Gina Miles’ “Wicked Game” type performance could boost her into the discussion of Season 25 front-runners.
7. Nathan Chester (Team Legend), 27, Chicago, Ill.: This guy’s been making his living performing and producing shows on cruise ships and it shows in his on-stage confidence. He’s vocally blessed and should have a large repertoire of fan favorites to draw from given that experience.
8. Nadège (Team Chance), 26, Wellington, Fla.: You can count on Nadège for a classy performance and silky smooth vocals. John Legend called her vocals angelic in the playoffs. Unfortunately, you can also count on Voice fans to underappreciate female R&B singers. A shocking song choice, done shockingly well, might get her into the semis.
9. Tae Lewis (Team Dan + Shay), 31, Goldsboro, N.C.: Consistently solid, he’s yet to peel off a performance that makes me think, ‘Yep, he could be the Season 25 champ.’ But he’s already accomplished something pretty impressive. He’s the only singer stolen at any point in the competition to make it this far.
10. Serenity Arce (Team Chance), 16, of Jupiter, Fla.: She’s one of the biggest wild cards entering the playoffs, a teenager going up against veteran performers twice her age in a live show setting. Talk about pressure. But her playoff cover of Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me” was splendid.
11. Josh Sanders (Team Reba), 35, Kannapolis, N.C.: He’s a family man and worship leader who does a nice job on country covers but lacks the distinct vocal stylings of past country champs. That said, given Voice fans’ preferences, I won’t be shocked if he outlasts his Team Reba colleagues.
12. Zoe Levert (Team Legend), 20, New Orleans, La.: She’s undoubtedly the most improved of the Season 25 Top 12. But she’s going to need to repeat the quality of her playoff cover of “Iris” every time out to advance in a Top 12 field with this much experience.
