>Kelly Clarkson paired up two worship leaders for a Season 16 battle round match on The Voice.

Rebecca Howell, 18, of Cochran, Ga., performed “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” and earned three chair turns in the blind auditions.

David Owens, 24, of Indianapolis, Ind., covered “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt. Only Kelly turned, but David deserved much better considering the strength of his performance.

You can learn more about both singers by following the links above.

The song: “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers
The feedback: John Legend praised both singers. Adam Levine said he’d give the win to Rebecca. Blake Shelton “Strongly” disagreed and praised David’s “Joe Crocker rattle.” Kelly also said both singers did outstanding.
The outcome: Kelly awarded the win to Rebecca. David was selected as the final contestant for the Season 16 Comeback Stage.
My take: Both singers deserve credit for a passionate, heartfelt performance. Rebecca showed off lots of power and a bit more range while David’s opening solo included a few too many frills for my taste.
