Report: American Idol halting production on Season 18

0

TV Line is reporting that American Idol is temporarily halting production of Season 18 due to the coronavirus situation.

If true — and there hasn’t been an official statement from ABC or Idol yet — that won’t mean an immediate halt to the season for fans of the show.

The show is currently airing pre-taped Hollywood Week episodes that are scheduled to air Monday and Tuesday.

Those will be followed by the showcase round featuring the Top 40 contestants and an episode revealing this season’s Top 20.

But the semifinals featuring the Top 20 haven’t been filmed yet. Live shows were scheduled to begin April 12.

Should it follow suit, The Voice would be in better shape in terms of already having pre-taped episodes ready to air.

The Voice has filmed everything through the knockout round and was planning just three weeks of live shows for Season 18.
