The contestant #13 phone number controversy.
Idol just keeps finding new ways to make the news.
Tonight, we learn about the latest rule changes, and we learn the identity of the first two contestants bounced from the competition.
Well, some things haven’t changed. We’ll still be treated to a weekly group song. We’ll still be treated to a weekly Ford music video. And, 15 minutes in, we get some results.
First up: Michael Sarver. He’s safe. I thought he might be one of those in danger.
Second up: Allison Iraheta. She had better be safe. And she is.
Third up: Jasmine Murray. She’s in danger, headed to center stage. Not surprising at all.
Fourth up: Matt Giraud. He’s safe, after a pretty mediocre performance.
Fifth up: Kris Allen. He’s safe.
Sixth up: Megan Joy. She heads to center stage. She’s safe.
Jasmine Murray is the first contestant eliminated from American Idol this season … unless the judges save her.
Highly unlikely, in my mind. But the judges are mulling it over, while Jasmine sings.
Nope, Jasmine is going home. I thought she performed better than Jorge and Anoop last night, but I’m not surprised she was the lowest vote getter among the gals … unless, that is, Alexis Grace fell victim to confusion over her 36-ending phone number.
Seventh up: Scott MacIntyre is safe.
Eighth up: Alexis Grace. No number 36 phone snag. She’s safe, too.
Ninth up: Danny Gokey. No surprise. He’s safe.
Tenth up: Anoop Desai, who got the lowest grade Tuesday night in my book. He’s headed to center stage. Deservably so.
Eleventh up: Adam Lambert. Still around. Surprise, surprise, after a brilliant performance last night.
Up next: Jorge Nunez, who is heading to center stage with Anoop.
And up last: Lil Rounds, who just found out she is safe.
And the results … Anoop is safe.
Jorge is on the bubble, at the mercy of the judges.
And his time on Idol has ended. The judges won’t save him.
Check back tomorrow for exit interviews with Jorge and Jasmine on Idol Chatter.
