After The Voice

Sarah Potenza plans to make her ‘dream’ album, with a big assist from her fans

Sarah PotenzaDespite possessing one of the best and biggest voices on The Voice, Sarah Potenza somehow missed out on the Season 8 finals.

But it appears she’ll get to make her dream record anyway.

Sarah launched a Kickstarter campaign a month ago to raise $30,000 to help fund an album called “My Turn.”

The campaign doesn’t end until June 17, but she’s already raised more than that and is now shooting for a stretch goal of $40,000.

If she hits it, she’s promising backers a free live streaming all-request concert.

Sarah was 34 when she auditioned for The Voice and enticed all four coaches to turn around for her cover of “Stay With Me.”

She joined Team Blake Shelton and made it to the Top 20 before being eliminated (prematurely, in my opinion).

Now she’s back in Nashville, picking up a project she began before the show came calling.

She spent seven years fronting a band called Sarah and the Tall Boys before heading to Nashville and deciding to go solo in 2012.

On Kickstarter, she explains that she and husband Ian Crossman, also her guitar player, decided to stop booking shows and got day jobs.

“We wrote (music) every single day,” she says in the introduction to the campaign, “and we wrote the best material that I have ever penned.

“These songs are special to me. They are the story of my life, the struggles and heartaches of living, trying to make ends meet, trying to catch a break … I’m finally making the record I came to Nashville to write.”

Sarah’s estimating that album will be out in December.

Meanwhile, if anyone’s interested in checking out the Kickstarter campaign and the rewards Sarah’s offering — she’s even offering up her guitar — head here.

And you can keep up with Sarah on her website; on Twitter she’s simply @sarahpotenza.
