If you missed it, like I nearly did, former Idol finalist Jessica Meuse recently released a new single.
The song is called “Rio Grande” and hit iTunes earlier this month.
We’ve yet to get a post-Idol album or EP from the fourth-place finisher from Season 13, but this marks Jessica’s third impressive single.
You’ll recall that Season 13 contestants were allowed to sing original songs and Jessica responded with the superb “Blue-Eyed Lie.”
Last year, she released “Done,” about a worthless lover.
This time around, she’s not so eager to “bury this love deep in the ground,” serving up a catchy chorus about a love that “runs stronger than the waters / of the Rio Grande.”
If you check out the photo above, you’ll see that the 25-year-old from Slapout, Alabama, has a new look to go with the new song: She’s gone blonde.
In response to a fan who feared she’s trying to be like all the other blonde female country singers, Jessica wrote this on Facebook: “I went blonde for me…I’m never one to fit a mold and “be like others” because, well, I really don’t care much unless it is something I really wanna do. I just wanted a change, is all.”
You can also follow Jessica through her website. On Twitter, she is @JessMeuse.
Now, for those who haven’t heard the new song …
