Something old, something new next week on Idol

0

The remaining five American Idol contestants will apparently give us something old and something new next week.

Idol is unveiling what I think is a new theme — Songs from Now and Then — on its Top Five performance show.

In a press release issued this morning, Idol explains: The contestants will each sing one current song and one song from the 1960s on another hour and a half episode next Wednesday.

Of course, after Casey Abrams’ ouster last night, those remaining contestants include Scotty McCreery, James Durbin, Jacob Lusk, Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina.

On Thursday, we won’t hear from a returning Idol. Instead, Jennifer Lopez will take the stage with Pitbull to perform “On the Floor.”

Hold it, weren’t we already treated to the video from that song earlier this season? During the semifinals?

Oh, well, we’ll get to hear it again in a pre-taped segment.

Performing live, presumably, will be Lady Antebellum.
