Christian Cuevas, Ali Caldwell and Josh Gallagher await Twitter save results on The Voice Tuesday night. (NBC Photo)
What’s on the line?
Oh, nothing more than a spot in the Season 11 finale set for next Monday night.
Sundance Head, Billy Gilman and We McDonald are already in that finale, having received the most votes from Voice fans following Monday’s show.
Ali, Josh and Christian finished next highest in the fan voting. Aaron Gibson and Brendan Fletcher have already been eliminated.
Now it’s time for the save-me songs.
Christian Cuevas, “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt: Yikes, maybe a bad case of nerves is getting to Christian. Because he hit more bum notes in the early part of this performance than I can remember him hitting on any previous cover since the finals began. That wasn’t a convincing argument for a spot in the finals. Grade: C–
Ali Caldwell, “Sledgehammer”: Yes, go Ali. I still think she’s got the best vocal talent on the show. And she’s certainly showing off the power in that voice in this performance. Hey, Voice, please focus on Ali and not Miley. Really nice ending by Ali, too. Now that was impressive. Grade: A–
Josh Gallagher, “I Drive Your Truck,” by Lee Brice: Nice song choice for Josh. And he’s turning in a pretty impressive performance of his own. Actually, this might be his best performance since the finals began. And I won’t be surprised it the show’s country fan base doesn’t rally to save him. Grade: B+
And the Twitter voting window is open and Josh is surging into the lead, just as I figured he would. He’s going to run away with this.
The last spot in the finals goes to: Josh Gallagher.
That means Ali Caldwell and Christian Cuevas are eliminated.
