Tate Brusa was eliminated from The Voice Season 18 in the knockout round episode that aired Monday night.
The 16-year-old from Salt Lake, Utah performed “The Scientist” and got solid feedback from the judges.
But coach Nick Jonas opted to advance Roderick Chambers, ending Tate’s Voice journey.
One of the youngest singers on the show, Tate turned two chairs with his blind audition cover of “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran; then won his battle round match with Anders Drerup. They performed “Circles” by Post Malone.
Here’s what Tate told Voice Views about his time on the show and his plans for new music.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Tate: I think the biggest thing I learned from my time on The Voice was how to handle pressure and nerves! My first performance, I was extremely nervous, and overtime through rehearsals on the actual stage, to working with Nick, I slowly got less and less nervous while performing. I can’t wait to transfer that to upcoming shows.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Tate: I think my favorite performance was my battle round! I love Post Malone so being able to sing one of his songs on stage was a privilege. It was super enthusiastic too, such a blast!
Voice Views: What are your post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?
Tate: I’m planning on releasing a single, and then an EP at the beginning of June. I hope to play more shows and continue to learn to produce, maybe have the chance to learn from someone. We’ll see when the time comes.
Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that?
Tate: Yea, like I said above, planning on the EP. I think June or End of May. I have four songs out already, so I’m excited to get more music out!
