A week into his residency at Bally’s Las Vegas, Taylor Hicks is promising special guests and a cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”
At one of his shows. He won’t say which one.
Taylor started his run at Bally’s last week, becoming the first American Idol finalist to headline a Vegas show.
He’s performing at The Indigo Lounge in the complex every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Aug. 20.
Tickets are $29.99 and $59.99 and the higher priced tickets include a meet and greet with Taylor.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he promised that “Wayne Newton will give birth to Elvis Presley when I’m onstage.”
OK, but seriously, he says his show includes some of the songs he performed on Idol back in Season 5, some tunes off his albums and some classic Vegas show tunes.
In another interview, he said he might also perform some new music and talks about an upcoming album with more of a country feel.
Oh, and he thinks he’s perfectly suited for Vegas, according to the interview I’ve embedded below.
“There’s no doubt I’m a gambling man, because I’m an entertainer,” he says. “The entertainment business is one big gamble in itself.”
But, for the record, he also enjoys Blackjack.
Here’s the interview.
