Some final thoughts … and more photos posted … from last night’s CMA Awards.
The stars have already started to arrive for tonight’s County Music Association awards show, which starts in less than an hour on ABC.
Keep checking back, I’ll be posting photos throughout the show, as they are moved by The Associated Press.
Carrie Underwood, of course, is playing host and is also up for two awards this evening. But she won’t be the only Idol on hand. Kellie Pickler is presenting an award. See if you can guess who that is in the second photo below.
And Chris Daughtry will be on hand to perform with Vince Gill. That’s definitely something to look forward to in tonight’s show. The song they did together on Daughty’s new album — “Tennessee Line” — was a pleasant surprise on a sterling second CD from Chris and the band.
Speaking of Ms. Pickler, check out the new hair color below. I’d been reading snippets that she’d dyed her blonde locks. Have no fear, fans of a blonde Kellie. I also read that she plans to change her hair color back sometime after the CMAs.
The show has barely started and we’ve already had a performance from Taylor Swift, plus Carrie and Brad Paisley doing a rendition of “Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” that pokes fun at Kanye West.
Carrie Underwood is already decked out in her third dress of the evening, and we’re only 16 minutes into tonight’s show.
Time for Kellie to take the stage with her reddish-brown hair color, presenting the song of the year award.
Is this a good time for a plug for Miranda Lambert’s sensational new album, “Revolution,” featuring the hit song “White Liar?” Oh, well, there it is, appropriately timed or not.
The Associated Press has started moving photos from tonight’s show. So keep checking back. We’ll have lots more as the night progresses.
And now, we get Carrie in yet another outfit, lounging on a red couch and belting out her new hit, “Cowboy Casanova.” The song was number three on the country charts last week. Tomorrow, we find out if it has advanced, and whether Carrie’s new album will debut at number one on the Billboard 200.
And now here’s that fantastic new Daughtry song, “Tennessee Line,” featuring Vince Gill on backing vocals. As soon as they move photos of the performance, I’ll post them.
Carrie’s now wearing a lovely green dress. How much must her CMA wardrobe have cost?
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift just won her first CMA of the night, for album of the year. Here’s betting she wins entertainer of the year as well.
Yep, the first of many awards for young Taylor, all of 19, the youngest nominee ever for Entertainer of the Year and, hence, the youngest winner ever.
Carrie gets shut out in the two categories she was nominated. Oh, well, there’s that new album … likely to debut at number one tomorrow … and 2010 to look forward to.
