Well, The Voice indeed beat The X Factor in the Wednesday night ratings victory.
But the NBC singing competition also lost a bigger chunk of its audience with the election-prompted switch to Wednesday night than The X Factor did because of the head-to-head competition.
According to ratings from TV by the Numbers, The Voice was the most popular show during the 8 p.m hour Wednesday with a 3.7 rating among 18 to 49-year olds. The show drew about 10.4 million viewers.
But that was down from a 4.6 rating among the same age group last Tuesday night.
The X Factor ranked dead last among the four major networks in its ranking among 18 to 49-year olds, landing behind not only The Voice, but The Middle and Survivor as well. Simon’s show drew about 7 million viewers, but its ratings in the prime age group dropped just one-tenth of a percentage point from a week ago.
Meanwhile, in the 9 p.m. hour, both Modern Family and Criminal Minds drew 12 million total viewers, topping both singing competitions.
Of course, The X Factor and The Voice go head to head again this evening at 8 p.m.
The Voice will be selecting its 12 finalists and featuring performances by Maroon 5 and Season 2 winner Jermaine Paul.
The X Factor is all aflutter because One Direction will perform not once, but twice, this evening.
You could say I’m a whole lot less impressed by that news.

The Voice may have beat X Factor solely because of that dude in the photo above. LOL! We are so shallow.
I try to watch both, but seriously, The Voice is so much better than X Factor.
