The Voice will be gunning for a second Emmy award in 2015.

Emmy nominations were announced this morning by Uzo Aduba and Cat Deeley and NBC’s hit singing competition was among six nominees in the Reality Competition Program category.

For the fourth straight year, American Idol missed out on a nomination.

That means The Voice will be going up against Top Chef, Dancing With the Stars, The Amazing Race, So You Think You Can Dance
and Project Runway for Emmy honors.

The Voice is the only televised singing competition to win an Emmy, turning the trick in 2013.

The Amazing Race has dominated the category since it was created in 2003, winning it every year except for 2010 (Top Chef) and 2013.

American Idol was nominated every year from 2003 to 2011, but failed to win each time.

The Voice had something of an up-and-down past year. Season 7 turned into a nail-biter, with lots of suspense over whether Craig Wayne Boyd, Matt McAndrew or Chris Jamison would come out on top.

Season 8? Well, the talent was still impressive.

But suspense? Forget suspense. Teen singer-songwriter Sawyer Fredericks became a front-runner the first time he performed and was the sure winner no sooner than the finals began.

The show also tinkered with its format, experimenting with a wild card entry into the finals for Season 7, then dumping the wild card for Season 8.

There’s also an Emmy for best host of a reality competition. Neither Ryan Seacrest nor Carson Daly are in the running.

Those nominations went to Tom Bergeron of Dancing with the Stars, Jane Lynch of Hollywood Game Night, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn of Project Runway, Cat Deeley of So You Think You Can Dance and Anthony Bourdain of The Taste.
