Season 10, Thia Megia

Thia Megia — star name — not a newly discovered talent

Before American Idol, Thia Megia competed on America's Got Talent. One of the younger contestants we met during American Idol’s Milwaukee audition was Thia Megia, she of the movie star name in the words of Jennifer Lopez.

Thia earned a golden ticket to Hollywood by singing Adele’s “Chasing Pavements.”

But her success in the audition shouldn’t have surprised anyone. And here’s betting it didn’t surprise Idol producers.

Thia was a finalist on America’s Got Talent back in season four (2009).

The 15-year-old from California said she decided to audition for Idol as soon as she heard the age limit had been lowered.

So she booked a room in Milwaukee, saying she knew Idol would have auditions in her home state “but I couldn’t summon the patience to wait.”

She expressed a lot more patience on her YouTube channel.

“I’m trying my best with baby steps at a time,” she writes, “until I’m living and breathing my dreams and my destiny.”

If you want to hear more from Thia, here goes …

Singing an original song, “As I Do”
