Five more artists earned spots on The Voice as the show continued its Season 28 blind auditions Tuesday night.
Kirbi earned the night’s only four-chair turn. She joined Team Niall Horan, giving Niall a quartet of four-chair turns this season, more than any other team.
Toni Lorene should have been a four-chair turn. But for some reason, Michael Buble didn’t turn for one of the best blind audition performances we’re heard this season.
Here’s a recap of Tuesday’s show.
Editor’s Note: Following the links attached to each singer’s name will take you to a profile of the singer, complete with information about music they’ve already released. And most of the Season 28 singers have music out.
BEST OF THE NIGHT
Toni Lorene, 28, Houston, Texas, “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo: Toni delivers a huge opening. Shockingly, the coaches do not turn. But as Toni continues, her performance is absolutely undeniable, with her voice soaring. She’s one heck of a performer too. Reba McEntire is actually the first to turn, followed by Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg. I have absolutely no idea how that was not a four-chair turn. Niall called her a wonderful singer, said he loves her confidence and that she “nailed” her audition. Reba loved her range and her look. Snoop said he thinks he’d help Toni pick songs perfect for her voice. He predicts she could do big things on the show. Toni opted to join Team Snoop.
RUNNER-UP
Kirbi, 24, Florence, Ala., “God Only Knows” for King and Country: Kirbi shows off great range. And she gets chair turns from Niall Horan and Michael Buble before she reaches the chorus. That seems to give her a confidence boost because she starts working the stage more. And gets chair turns from Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire as well. There’s an ethereal quality to her voice. Niall called her performance next level. Reba points out that she and Kirbi have a lot in common in terms of their preferred genres. Snoop compliments her for staying true to her faith during the audition. Kirbi decided to join Team Niall.
ALSO MADE THE SHOW
Leyton Robinson, 23, Rogers, Ark. , “Weren’t for the Wind” by Ella Langley: She shows off a nice unique country tone. And she sings with lots of power and passion. That earns her a chair turn from Snoop Dogg. She’s well into the song when Reba McEntire turns. And look at Leyton’s face light up when that happens. Snoop said she had a wonderful voice and lots of charisma. Reba said she hesitated to turn because she has lots of country singers on her team. Then she fell in love with Leyton’s voice. Leyton joined Team Reba.
Kenny Iko, 35, Washington, D.C., “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars: Kenny shows off a wonderful tone from the first note. And he gets an early chair turn from his dream coach, Snoop Dogg. Kenny’s impressive range prompts a turn from Niall as well. Niall loves his falsetto. Snoop said he doesn’t have anyone like Kenny on his team. He loves Kenny sound, his look, his style and his spirit. Kenny joined Team Snoop.
Austin Gilbert, 25, Eugene, Oregon, “”The Kind of Love We Make” by Luke Combs: Austin’s performs with lots of enthusiasm. He’s a great showman. But he’s deep into the performance before chairs start turning. Once they do, he gets chair turns from Niall Horan and Michael Buble. Niall complimented him on having a wonderful tone and a powerful voice. Michael said Austin was too good not to make the show. He loves Austin’s unique tone. Austin decided to join Team Michael.
