York’s DaNica Shirey has found a new home for her vocal talent.
The 26-year-old singer, who cracked the Top 8 on Season 7 of The Voice, has joined the Big House Band in Philadelphia.
DaNica and band leader Jimi Milligan announced the news on their Facebook pages last week.
DaNica: “Hey dear friends!!!! So I have extremely exciting news that I am an official new member of The Big House Band in Philly. I’m so excited and have been having a blast playing with my new music family!!!”
Jimi: “It’s OFFICIAL!!! My good friend and AMAZING SINGER DaNica Shirey who came in 6th place on The Voice Season 7 is teaming up with me and The Big House Band to rock for you guys! So excited to start this new chapter of Big House!”
Jimi and DaNica met during the audition process for Season 7 of The Voice. Jimi auditioned, but wasn’t selected by any of the four celebrity coaches. DaNica turned three chairs with her blind audition, joined Team Pharrell and made it all the way to the live shows.
And they were reunited in mid-June when Season 7 winner Craig Wayne Boyd performed at The Pullo Center in York. DaNica performed a duet of ZZ Top‘s “Tush” with Craig; Jimi showed up on stage and played sax.
DaNica has already performed multiple times with The Big House Band. The Star Newspaper reports that her first show with the band was a July 29 gig at Port Richmond in Philly.
The Big House Band has been performing as weddings, bars, clubs, casinos and private functions form more than 18 years and has been voted one of Philadelphia’s Top 5 wedding bands for six years in a row, according to its website. You can head there to see a list of upcoming shows.
The band also includes Stephanie Chiofalo, Jeff Kessler, Tim Kolber, Dave Robinson and Kyler Walter.
