Turns out Christina Aguilera wasn’t the only one providing Alisan Porter with advice on her way to the Season 10 title on The Voice.

She was also getting regular input from an old friend, the Season 8 runner-up on American Idol.

That’s right: Adam Lambert.

The two performed together in “The Ten Commandments: The Musical” at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles in their pre-singing show days.

And when Adam was competing on Idol, they’d consult regularly on things like song choices.

Sounds like he more than returned the favor, based on what Alisan said during a Tuesday press conference following her triumph on The Voice.

“I think we talked every single day throughout this process,” she said. “From beginning to end, about song choices, about outfits.

“He’s so particular. He’d be like, ‘Your makeup was perfect tonight, except for this,'” she added with a laugh.

Alisan said Adam has always been supportive of her and always wanted her to continue to pursue music.

In fact, she has a writing credit on “Aftermath,” one of the songs on his “For Your Entertainment” album. Search YouTube and you’ll find video of them singing it together in concert.

So even though he’s involved with his own career and touring schedule, he took “time out to call me to see how I’m doing. ‘How’s your spirit? How’s your body? How’s your soul?’

“Those are the things true friends care about through all of this because you really can get trampled if you’re not prepared for what work this was. It was not just go on stage and sing a song once a week. It was insane.”

Adam’s reaction to Alisan’s victory came via Twitter with this message: “YAAAAAAAAS @alisanporter WON THE VOICE! So proud!!!!”
