Season 9

Want to audition? Get ready to travel

Aspiring American Idols from York County had better plan on traveling in order to audition for season nine.

Yep, with season eight barely over, Idol is already making plans to line up contestants for season nine.

The closest audition city to York County is the first, Gillette Stadium in Boston, where registration will be held June 12-13, followed by auditions on June 14. Round trip, it’s only about 700 miles.

Which is a heck of a lot closer than any of the other audition sites, which include Atlanta (June 16-18), Los Angeles (June 28-30), Orlando (July 7-9), Denver (July 12-14), Chicago (TBA) and Dallas (TBA).

Idol has only once held an audition in Pennsylvania (Philly in season seven), but there’s usually at least one audition site in the region (Washington, D.C., and East Rutherford, N.J., in recent years).

Oh, well, look at the bright side. Season eight reminded us that you don’t need vocal talent to try out.

Showing up with a skimpy bikini or a ridiculous comedy routine might be enough to earn some prime TV time.
