But there are YouTube videos. YouTube videos with hundreds of thousands of views to tell us which performances and which performers are favorites with fans.
And those videos indicate Alejandro Aranda and Laine Hardy are locked in a tight battle for the Season 17 title.
And that Alejandro, the singer judges hailed as turning in the show’s best audition ever, might have a slight edge.
Below, you can check out all the solo performances from the Top 3 of Laine, Alejandro and Madison VanDenburg since Top 14 week.
Alongside, I’ve listed the number of views each video had as of Thursday evening.
Madison has turned in some incredibly popular performances, with more than a half million views of her Disney night performance and more than 750,000 for her cover of Alicia Keys’ “Fallin’.”
But in every round, she trails both Laine and Alejandro, meaning she’ll be the long-shot when the Season 17 finals begin Sunday at 8 p.m.
In the eight solo rounds from Top 14 night forward, Alejandro has the most popular performance five times, Laine on three occasions.
Alejandro also has the most popular performance in the last eight rounds of songs, with 1.4 million views on his Top 14 night performance of “One Dance.”

Alejandro is the most talented musician I have ever heard on any
show …ever. His abilities exceed any “star” I have ever heard. It’s amazing no one has ever spotted this and had him make a record! Blesser is an amazing song that I can’t get enough of. I’ve played it several times already. He definitely is a Special Guy With a Special Talent….
