Here are my picks for the best 10 songs of 2013 from former American Idol contestants. And, wow, that was tough. Tough because former contestants delivered lots of great music in 2013.
This past year wasn’t quite as busy as 2012 in terms of album releases by former American Idol contestants. But we still got albums from four past winners — Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Scotty McCreery and Lee DeWyze — and lots of good music.
By my count, former Idol contestants released at least 30 videos in 2013. Here are my picks for the top five, followed by all the others I could find.
Billboard has released its year-end music charts for 2013, and they’re sprinkled with former American Idol contestants. Phillip Phillips leads the way, based on the performance of his debut album and his first two singles from that album.
At least one former American Idol contestant has won a Grammy on music’s biggest night in seven of the last eight years. And Idol will have a chance to continue that winning streak in 2014.
Scotty McCreery and Kristy Lee Cook performed at the York Expo Center Sunday night. The third annual Jingle Bell Jam, organized by WGTY Great Country Radio, attracted a crowd of about 3,000. If there was any question who was the big draw at the third annual Jingle Bell Jam in York, it was answered by the screams that greeted Scotty McCreery when he took the stage Sunday night. Or by the dozens of young women who swarmed toward the stage when Scotty started scribbling on fans’ hands…
She was the unknown on a lineup that included former American Idol contestants Scotty McCreery and Kristy Lee Cook. But Sunday’s Jingle Bell Jam certainly made for a nice showcase for talented singer-songwriter Kayla Kroh, a 16-year-old student at Central York High School.
Fans of The Voice likely remember Caroline Glaser. She was 19 when she auditioned for Season 4.
The video for Candice Glover’s second single has been released. If you haven’t heard, the Season 12 winner released a song called “Cried” on Nov. 25.
