Wow, auditions for Season 12 of American Idol? Already?

Yep, they started Thursday in Los Angeles where thousands of “singers” turned out with hopes of becoming the next Phillip Phillips.

Or Carrie Underwood? Hmm, better keep those hopes in perspective, ladies. How long has it been since a female has won Idol?

Anyway, Idol’s L.A. stop officially kicks off the Season 12 audition season.

Other stops are planned June 14 in San Antonio, Texas; June 19 in Charlotte, N.C.; June 23 in Newark, N.J.; July 12 in Chicago; July 17 in New Orleans and July 20 in Oklahoma City.

The New Jersey auditions are obviously the closest, and registration there starts two days before the actual auditions. For more information, head here.
