Eight years after her run on American Idol, Mikalah Gordon has released a first single.
The song is called “Honey.” If you’re looking for the song on iTunes, she’s using just her first name for the release.
And this one caught me a bit by surprise, folks.
I expected a saucy dance tune. What Mikalah has delivered is a hard rocker, full of guitar riffs, grunts and moans that would sound perfectly at home on an Aerosmith release.
In an interview at the American Idol Season 12 finale, Mikalah described it as “an empowering, fun, sexy” tune.
At the time, she said she hopes to put out more singles as well.
“There’s no reason to do an entire huge album,” she told Wired 96.5. “Just put out great songs.”
You can check out the full interview here.
Now 25, Mikalah was just 17 when she made the Idol finals and finished 11th.
She’s had several high-profile gigs since, including doing fan reaction bits on a couple of Idol finales since then.
She also served as a field correspondent on “The Tyra Banks Show,” and competed on the CMT show “Gone Country.”
And, in January, she competed in the Miss California competition as Miss Huntington Beach.
Here’s the single.
