The Voice will kick off Season 29 with a new format and just three coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levin and John Legend — on Feb. 23.
Here’s more about Sydney:
* She’s a young pop, R&B singer-songwriter from the New Jersey area.
* And she alreeady has lots of original music on streaming sites, including a pair of EPs, “Everything I Couldn’t Say” from 2024 and “You Wanted Me First” from December. From the latter, the title song and a ballad called “Woman” are especially impressive. Check out her vocal gymnastics on “Woman” below.
* On social media, Sydney says she starting writing the songs for her first EP “during a time where confiding in people wasn’t an option.
* “Music has always gotten me through the toughest of times,” she adds. “I always said to myself, ‘if I can help ppl with my music, then that’s all that matters to me.'”
* She’s been releasing music since 2023 when she dropped her debut single, “Morning Coffee.” There are two versions of the song on her first EP.
* On her website, Sydney describes her music as pop / R&B, influenced by her love for soul and gospel music.
* And she lists as her inspirations Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Kelly Price, and Season 29 Voice coach Kelly Clarkson.
* Others have recognized her vocal talent. She won Amateur Night at the Apollo Theatre in New York in May, singing “Love on Top” by Beyonce.
* And she auditioned for Season 22 of American Idol, earning a golden ticket from then judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
* Sydney is a 2024 graduate of the New Jersey City University of Music, Dance and Theatre. Her performance of the national anthem has her graduation ceremony has been viewed 5.7 million times on TikTok.
* She’s now pursuing a master’s degree in vocal performance from the same institution.
