Early reviews for Daughtry’s new album, Break the Spell

If you missed the American Music Awards last night, you missed a performance of Daughtry’s new single, “Crawling Back to You.”

Apparently, Chris wasn’t thrilled with the way the song sounded on TV.

“Really bums me out when a performance sounds so good on stage, but the TV mix sounds so out of balance,” he wrote earlier today on Twitter.

The good news:  “However, I’m loving that you all are loving Break the Spell.  That is what I’m focusing on!!!”

That’s right folks, five years removed from his appearance on American Idol, Chris and his band have released their third album.

It’s available for download today; it hits stores tomorrow.  You can go here to listen to the full album now.

If you missed Chris and the guys at the AMAs, you can catch them Tuesday on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

Meanwhile, here are links to some early reviews:

Billboard.com: Calls the album “more dependable than daring.”

EW.com: Gives the album a “B” saying, Chris “wields his Ginsu-sharp melodies like a Benihana chef …, which (almost) lets him get away with being more Bon Jovi than Black Sabbath.

Newsday: Gives the album a “B-“. saying, “for ‘Break the Spell,’ the sense of adventure is gone, leaving us with adequate, sorta-likable facsimiles of ‘Home’ or ‘Feels Like Tonight’ that are redundant from the start.”

Regardless, here’s betting fans welcome “Break the Spell” with open arms.

Meanwhile, here’s the video from the AMA performance.  Sounded good to me, Chris.
