He might not have won Season 8 of American Idol, but Adam Lambert was that year’s undisputed star.
And he released a new single — “Better Than I Know Myself” — today. You can hear it below.
At one point, Adam had hoped to release his second album in 2011.
After all, we’re more than two years removed from the release of “For Your Entertainment,” which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and produced three singles that cracked Billboard’s Hot 100.
Album number two will be called “Trespassing” and is now due out March 20.
Pre-orders are being taken on Adam’s website, and anyone who pre-orders now gets free download of the new single.
Says Adam about the new album and the two years since Idol: “It’s been a transformative period, and I really wanted to make music from what I’ve experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality.”

It indicates that Adam co-wrote many of the tunes on the new album.
It doesn’t answer a more pressing question — whether it will include great dance tunes like album number one, which featured “If I Had You,” the title track and “Fever.”
Now, here’s the new song. As of about 2 p.m. Tuesday, it ranked number 24 among the most downloaded songs on iTunes.
