Lots going on this week in terms of music awards shows.
First up: The official nominations for the People’s Choice Awards will be unveiled tomorrow. Season eight Idol Kris Allen will be among those announcing the nominees at noon our time. The appearance comes a week before the release of Kris’ debut CD.
Kris was among the initial list of nominees for Breakout Artist of the Year, along with Idol colleague Adam Lambert and the formidable Lady Gaga.
In fact, lots of Idols were among those initially nominated. The list will be thinned to five nominees in each category Tuesday. You can follow along on Twitter, or check back with this blog late tomorrow to find out how the Idols fared.
A list of all the potential nominees appears at the bottom of this blog. CBS will carry the People’s Choice Awards on Jan. 6.
Second up: The County Music Association Awards show Wednesday night on ABC. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will be the hosts. I’ll be blogging live during the show.
And, as a Tuesday morning warmup, Carrie and Brad will perform on Good Morning America. If The Associated Press covers the morning concert, I’ll post those photos as well.
And last but not least: The American Music Awards are right around the corner — Sunday, Nov. 22, on ABC.
Adam Lambert is among the performers and sent out a tweet about that performance this afternoon — “so hot, out the box” — or so he says.
