Josh "Jada" Davila, Season 12

Meet and hear Josh ‘Jada’ Davila of American Idol

We haven’t seen much of Josh “Jada” Davila on Season 12 of American Idol.

But he was featured during Hollywood Week as a member of perhaps the most dysfunctional group Idol producers created.

If drama was what the show was looking for, the ploy worked, with Sgt. Trevor Blakney constantly complaining that the group was more focused on dance moves and glamor than their vocals.

In the end, Jada and Joel didn’t have to worry about their vocals. They sailed through to the final day of Hollywood after Country Queen performed “More Than Words.”

As for the country singers — they went home.

Now, about Jada. He’s 27, lives in Chicago where he works as a beauty advisor at Lancome and made the semifinals of the Windy City Gay Idol competition last June.

He described himself as the “androgynous boy next door” to ChicagoPride.com at the time and said he planned to show up on stage in heels.

“I want to use this platform to show off my daring, chic take on androgyny,” he said. “Androgyny is everywhere we turn. We just don’t see enough of it in the media. So that’s where I come in.”

I’m not sure where Jada finished in the competition, but he didn’t make the top three judging from YouTube videos of the finals.

But Jada repeated the same theme in his American Idol Road to Hollywood video, saying “androgyny needs to be seen more.”

“I ask my friends: ‘When was the last time we had a Boy George? When was he last time we had a Prince?'”

Since I can’t find any other video of Jada performing, I’m posting the Country Queen performance from Hollywood.

If anyone knows of other video that’s available, pass the word along and I’ll add it.
