I’ve spent part of the weekend researching singers who auditioned for Season 5 of The Voice.

And it looks to me like the show has succeeded in rounding up some remarkable talent yet again.

So it’s time to revive the Before The Voice song of the day, a look at music you can purchase now from the singers we’ll be getting to know over the next couple of months.

Actually, the blog has been available on those apps before. But the photos never displayed. And the blog flashed up then disappeared if I happened to embed a video. But, just in time for Season 5 of The Voice, those problems have been fixed.

Back to the songs of the day.

First up, Kat Robichaud, who released this addictive rocker with The Design as part of an album called “Young America” in December 2011. The song: “Burn.” And, if you like it as much as I do, you can download it from iTunes.

The North Carolina-based band also released an album in 2008 called “Laziest Perfectionist.” On Facebook, Kat describes herself as a “singer, song-writer, rock-n-roller.”

Usually when I post a song of the day featuring a former Voice contestant, it’s from the recent past. Oh, say the last couple of years.

We’re going to reach a lot farther back this time, all the way to 1986 when Donna Allen released this song, “Serious.” During her blind audition, we were told about Donna, the background singer for the Miami Sound Machine. But she also released two solo dance albums back in the late 1980s that are available on iTunes.

Caroline Pennell’s unique vocals landed her a spot on Team Cee Lo, and her first two performances on The Voice — “Anything Can Happen” and “As Long As You Love Me” — were well received on iTunes.

The teen from Saddle River, N.J., released an impressive five-track EP called “The Race” earlier this year. Here’s one of the songs from that EP — “Nobody’s Home.”

Brian Pounds was eliminated during The Voice battle rounds Monday night. The 24-year-old from Austin, Texas, had earned a spot on Team Blake Shelton after turning two chairs for his version of “Wagon Wheel” in the blind audition.

Brian released a fine self-titled, eight-track EP that’s worth checking out. I’ve embedded one of the songs below — “In the Morning You’ll Be Gone.”
