Pharrell’s Grammys came for best music video (“Happy”), best pop solo performance (“Happy) and best urban contemporary album (“Girl”).
Meanwhile, Christina Aguilera shared a Grammy with Great Big World for their “Say Something” duet, which took the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance.
And Miranda Lambert took best country album honors for “Platinum,” a victory with a Voice link beyond the fact that she’s Blake Shelton’s wife. Some of the best songs on the album were co-writes with Nicolle Galyon, a contestant on Season 2 of the hit NBC show.
In terms of performances, Pharrell took the stage to perform “Happy,” while Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani performed a duet of “My Heart is Open.”
And Usher performed during a tribute to Stevie Wonder.
The big winner of the night, predictably, was Sam Smith. He wound up with four Grammys, including best new artist, best pop album, record of the year and song of the year. Album of the year honors went to Beck for “Morning Phase.”
