Her audition: Caroline Burns, 16, of Hollis, N.H., auditioned with Carole King’s “So Far Away.” Her pleasant and youthful tone enticed a chair turn from Adam Levine before she even hit the chorus. On the last note, Blake Shelton turned as well. Adam praised how she improved by “leaps and bounds” since an earlier attempt at the show. Caroline opted to join Team Adam.
Her background: Just 15 at the time, Caroline auditioned for Season 9, singing “A Thousand Years,” but failed to turn a chair. Pharrell Williams encouraged her to try again, and she returned to The Voice nearly a year older and an inch taller — she’s proud to have reached 5 feet tall. Since her first audition, she reunited with her band — 4:30 to 5 — to hone her skills, singing mostly classic rock. She also dresses up as a princess or fairy for a business that puts on parties for young children, another endeavor that sometimes allows her to sing. Her dad plays guitar and sings and taught her how to play as well.
