Camila Cabello poses with her MTV Video Music Awards.

On Season 2 of The X Factor, Camila Cabello wasn’t considered strong enough to make the show as a solo artist, so she was thrown into a show-created group called Fifth Harmony.

Monday night, as a solo artist, Camila won the two biggest awards at the MTV Music Video Awards.

“The best night ever,” the 21-year-old tweeted to fans afterward.

Camila was nominated for five VMAs and actually missed out on the honors for Song of the Year (Post Malone’s “rockstar”) and Best Pop Video of the Year (Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry”).

But she bounced back to win Artist of the Year, beating out Ariana, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Drake and Post Malone.

And her hit debut single “Havanna” took Video of the Year honors as well.

Camila wasn’t the lone winner with a singing show past.

Jennifer Lopez performed at the awards and received a Vanguard Award. And her video for “Dinero,” featuring Cardi B. and DJ Khaled won for best collaboration.

And Nicki Minaj took the award for Best Hip-Hop Video of the Year for “Chun-Li.”

Head here for a complete list of Monday’s winners and nominees.
