By the time his blind audition ended, Kirk Jay had established himself as a front-runner on Season 15 of The Voice.

Kirk, from Bay Minette, Ala., turned all four coaches’ chairs with his cover of “Bless the Broken Road.”

And when Adam Levine sensed that he might have trouble landing the talented country singer for his team, he uncharacteristically encouraged Kirk to join Team Blake.

Not that Kirk, 23 at the time, needed much convincing.

“(Blake) definitely can help me as far as pursuing my country career, and that’s what I need,” Kirk told Voice Views the day after his audition aired. “I need somebody that can guide me and help me.”

Pre-Voice, Kirk fronted his own country band called Kirk Jay and Kuntry Funk. While they played originals at their shows, the had not released music prior to the show.

Here’s a look back at Kirk’s Voice performances to date.

Blind audition — “God Bless the Broken Road”

Battle round (montaged) — “Let It Rain” (Versus Caeland Garland)

The knockouts — “In Case You Didn’t Know” (versus Colton Smith)
