Did you know that La’Porsha Renae had tried out for American Idol before?
Yep, back when she was 16, she tried out for the show. But she told her hometown newspaper, The Clarion-Ledger that she really wasn’t ready for the big stage.
“All I can say is I’m more seasoned, more torn down,” she told the newspaper. “I’m more emotional and more prepared. Life has kind of gotten to me, but at 16 I hadn’t gone through much of anything to convey through music on stage.”
During her Idol interviews, the single mom has since talked about the abusive relationship she escaped. And not a La’Porsha performance goes by when we don’t catch a glimpse of her young daughter, Nayalee.
She became a Season 15 front-runner the minute she auditioned with her own version of Radiohead’s “Creep” and earned a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Now the only question is whether the 22-year-old former call representative from McComb, Miss., will walk away as the last American Idol Thursday night.
