A Season 8 semifinalists on American Idol, the gal from Lufton, Texas, released an impressive post-show debut album in September called “All-Around Girl.”
That’s right, four full years after her run on the show. But, hey, it was worth the wait.
If you missed the first single, “Drinkin’,” be sure to check it out.
Other standout tracks include “Out of My Skin,” “The Fall” and “Needle on the Record.”
The 29-year-old is also featured in the new edition of Austin-based Rockstar Magazine, where she admits she might have played up to the Carrie Underwood stereotype — sweet, blonde and country — a bit much in the past.
“I thought that was the only way I could make it, and I realized that wasn’t true,” she says. “The only way I was gonna really make a name for myself was to be true to myself, and that Idol image is just not who I am.
“I’m not afraid to write about things I experience and very personal things. I’ve always been a girl with some edge.”
