The Voice announced Thursday that Toneisha Harris finished second on Season 18 of The Voice.
Tuesday’s results show ended with the announcement of Todd Tilghman of Team Blake as the Season 18 champ.
But host Carson Daly never informed fans which member of the Top 3 — Toneisha or Thunderstorm Artis from Team Nick Jonas — finished as runner-up.
A tweet from the show Thursday clear up that mystery. It read: “Congratulations to powerhouse
@toneishaharris, who placed 2nd on this season of #TheVoice!”
That means Team Blake members finished first and second in Season 18 and that Toneisha received more fan support than any of the other three finalists, though she needed a Twitter save to make the finals.
That’s because the voting rules for Season 18 required each coach to have at least one singer in the finale. CammWess finished fourth for Team Legend; Micah Iverson finished fifth for Team Kelly.
Toneisha, from Roswell, Ga., and 44 when she auditioned, also had the second most popular single on iTunes following Monday’s show, cracking the Top 15 on iTunes with “My Superhero.”
A black female singer has never won The Voice.
As for the results night confusion over who finished second, blame it on the show running out of time.
You’ll recall that Blake spoke at length about his artists remotely and host Carson Daly stuck with the feed even though the microphone was malfunctioning and viewers couldn’t hear what The Voice’s winningest coach was saying.
