Congrats to the American Idol votes.
You got it right. Again.
In fact, you’ve been remarkably good at separating the contenders from the pretenders all year on American Idol.
So good, that the judges never used their save. That’s the first time that’s happened since the concept was initiated back in Season 8.
Oh, I could quibble a bit.
The most talented male singer, Curtis Finch Jr., went home first.
One of the weaker male singers, Lazaro Arbos, hung around a little too long. But the guy had a heck of a story and was tough to root against.
And Janelle Arthur … I actually preferred her to
Amber Holcomb. Amber never lived up to the judges’ billing vocally and never showed the creativity Janelle did when she re-imagined “You Keep Me Hanging On.”
But here’s the bottom line: Three young ladies will be making a triumphant trip home to celebrate their Top 3 finish on American Idol this weekend.
And it’s the correct three — Kree Harrison, Angie Miller and Candice Glover.
Where do we go from here?
Well, it should be a fantastic final two weeks, because all three are fabulous singers.
In fact … well, let’s see.
Season 11: Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet. Nope.
Season 10: Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart. Nope.
Season 9: Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox, Casey James. Nope.
Season 8: Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey. Nope.
Yep, this just might be the best final three vocally since Season 7.
Hey, Idol voters, give yourselves a standing ovation.

If Mark thinks Angie sings better than Amber, he must be tone deaf. Angie is only somewhat good behind the piano. The rest of her appeal is all visual.
The best three singers are Candice, Amber and Kree.
America got it wrong again this year, as they have every year after Carrie Underwood won. That was the last time the best singer won.
Totally agree with you Mark!! But I think season 7 edges this season! Top 3 women are incredibly talented! I think Angie is all around idol contestant. The girl can sing, write songs and a talented musician plus she has the looks to be a great American Idol. But I also love Candice and Kree! I will be happy with any of them to win American Idol! Should be a great finale!
