Another 3-song night on tap for Idol’s Top 3

Yep, Keith Urban, the remaining Season 13 contestants will have to remember another bunch of songs for Top 3 week.

American Idol has revealed the format for next Wednesday’s performance show, and it’ll be another three-song night for the singers.

And there’s a twist. But, hey, this time it’s not a bad one.

Hometown fans will select one of the songs each contestant sings by voting for their favorite performance so far from Season 13.

As for the other two songs …

One will be selected by the Idol judges.

One will be selected by Idol mentor Randy Jackson.

And the Top 3 will find out what those songs are during their celebratory trips home this weekend.

Three other points of interest:

* New Wednesday’s show will mark the 500th episode of American Idol.

* Thursday’s results show will move back to a one-hour format, filled with footage from those trips home, I’m sure.

* The guest performer on Thursday’s show will be Scotty McCreery — hooray, one of Idol’s own — singing his new single, “Feelin’ It.”

Check back later today for an exit interview with fourth-place finisher Jess Meuse.
